CHATFIELD STATE RECREATION AREA (May 12, 2004) |
| We decided to go somewhere close for the maiden voyage in our new
Outback. Chatfield SRA is just south of C-470 and Wadsworth. We had a long,
full hookups site on this trip (water, electric, and sewer) so that made the camper easy
to get ready for camping. The kids were so excited to go they could hardly stand it.
| The big activity at Chatfield (since Dad hasn't purchased a jet boat
yet), is fishing. Here are the kiddos taking the short hike to the lake to catch us
come dinner!
| One of Dad's jobs is to hook the live night-crawlers onto the hooks.
Those worms didn't enjoy that procedure one bit.
| Courtney though the night-crawlers we pretty yucky. Of course,
she thinks salmon, squash, and anything leafy green is yucky too.
| We fished Saturday afternoon and evening, and again on Sunday
morning. We didn't catch a single fish! We even used Canadian night-crawlers.
Maybe those only work with Canadian fish?
| So can you guess how long Kendal has been fishing in her lifetime?
About 2 hours at this point.
| Look at this cool (and dead) tree we found to sit on! You can
see sailboats in the distance.
| Courtney didn't do any fishing. But she did enjoy climbing on
the big hills behind us, and playing in the sand, without her shoes on, of course!
| So, will Mom put live worms on the fish hooks? No. Will she
remove the hook from the fish's mouth if we catch one? No. Will she chop off the
head and clean the fish if we catch one? No. So she is just going to relax on
that tree and make Randy do all that? Yep.
| We stayed and played at the lake even after the sun went down.
