GOLDEN GATE STATE PARK (Memorial Day 2004)

Memorial Day Weekend 2004 we camped at Golden Gate State Park.   We were in Loop B, site 10.  Very nice site.

Nice long pull-through site.

With the camper and site all set up, we took a quick family photo.

Our first night camping we ate dinner outside.  We had spaghetti, Great Grandma's rolls, rootbeer, and a bottle of wine (for Mom and Dad, of course).  Those 4 green buckets you see on the table are citronella to keep the skeeters away.

Its amazing how the kids never get tired of roasting marshmallows.   That and playing with fire.

We hiked the Raccoon Trail all the way up to Panorama Point.   This was a 2.5 mile hike that took us about 2 1/2 hours to complete.  The kids made it.  Sure, there was a little whining along the way, along with Courtney saying, "I think I am going to faint!"  But, the kids made it, and Dad didn't have to carry anyone.  They sure were hungry when we got back to the camper.

On our second night the kids flame roasted their own hotdogs for dinner.

Dad fired up the charcoal (only took 75 minutes to get it going), and grilled some great looking (and tasting) bone-in ribeye steaks.

The kids played UNO in the bunk room after dinner while Mom and Dad had a beer.  It was a great trip.
