GOLDEN GATE CANYON STATE PARK (July 19, 2008)

We decided to visit nearby Golden Gate Canyon State Park with some fellow Outbackers. The weather was warm as temperatures hit the low 80's at times. We had not visited Golden Gate since the 2006 Outbacker Rally. Here is our rig in site 48.

Site 51 is probably the best site at Golden Gate, followed by site 53 due to its size.

No leveling was needed on site 48. There is Courtney walking towards the Outback.

Three other Outbackers joined us at Golden Gate. Next to me is Colorado Chip and his boy Mitchell, then AAA Colorado (Tim), and The Happy Campers (Scott).

The Happy Campers were next to us in site 50, the same site they occupied at the 2006 Outbacker Rally.

Here is Scott and Tara with their two dogs Freddy and Jason. No, wait a minute...I mean Alien and Predator. No, that's not right either. Oh! Pepper and Teeka.

Colorado Chip and his family camped on the other side of us in site 47.

We decided to hike with Colorado Chip and his family to Panarama Point. It is a fairly challenging hike due to the elevation changes, and the warm weather didn't make it any easier. Carly is on the other end of that leash cooling off in the river.

Colorado Chip's daughter takes a ride on her Mom's back during the hike. Evelyn was a trooper on this challenging hike.

Once you reach the summit of the hike at Panorama Point, you are treated to a great view.

Family picture at Panorama Point. Cameron was in Iceland with his maternal Grandparents during this trip.

We took a moment to rest at during the hike. We shared grapes and cheese-n-crackers with pepperoni with Chip and his family.

Saturday evening we had a BBQ at our site. I was prepared for rain, but it never came.

We had three grills lined up. After giving Chip well-deserved harassment for the condition of his grill, he sent me an email a few days later telling me that he had purchased a new grill...the same one I have...the WeberQ 200. Scott has the smaller WeberQ 120, but word on the street is he will be upgrading to the 200 soon.

All the food is prepared...time to eat.

Kendal and Courtney sit near the campfire with Pepper.

Lea took a break to hold Mitchell for a while. It has been a long time since our kids were this little.

On Sunday morning, Dad made Sausage Biscuits and Gravy. No one needs B&G's more than skinny Court.
