LATHROP STATE PARK (Labor Day 2006)

Labor Day Weekend 2006 took us to Lathrop State Park in Walsenburg, CO.  It is a 2-hour drive from Denver, but very easy to get to since there is only north-south Interstate to drive.  Lathrop has two lakes and is wake-less.  We were in site 34 in A Loop.  Loop B was crowded and offered little privacy.  The sites in C and D looked fine.

Here is the backyard of site 34.

We took a 2-hour hike on Sunday morning by walking the bike path all the way around both lakes.  Since Lathrop is not at elevation (only 6,400 feet) we hardly felt tired afterwards.

The kids next door found a snakeskin on their hike.

Cameron played catch with Breyer next door.

Saturday afternoon we did some Porta-Boting on the lake.  The weather was cloudy and cool for most of Saturday, but luckily never rained.

The kids broke out the Monopoly game again on this trip.  Kendal was eliminated early as Courtney continued her Donald Trump-like aggressive strategy.  After Cameron put Kendal into bankruptcy, Cameron and Courtney called it a draw and agreed to not sue each other in court.

Just across the street from us was Apache Driver, an Outbacker visiting from Texas.  He owns the biggest of all Outbacks, the 2007 31 RQS Sydney Edition.

Pictured above is Apache Driver with his wife and kids and Castle Rock Outbackers with his wife.
