SAN ISABEL NATIONAL FOREST - MOLLY BROWN (July 14, 2007) |
Our trip back to
Molly Brown on the shores of Turquoise Lake was as wonderful as last year.
Site 6 now ranks as our favorite site we have visited to date. No bugs,
gentle breezes, and amazing views make this a great campground. Next year we
will book two weekends on site 6 at Molly Brown...it's that good.

Lakeside sites mean
we go boating. Here is our 12-foot Porta-Bote docked behind our camper.
We got legal this
year and registered our Bote. There's Randy adding the 2007 registration
stickers.
Cameron skips rocks
every time we camp near a lake.
Even though
Turquoise Lake is at 10,000 feet, the water temperature in July is warmer
than you think. Kendal and Courtney play along the shore.
Kendal ventures
into deeper waters.
After boating as a
family, Dad took each of the kids on the Bote by themselves so we could get
a little more speed. Our new 5 HP Tohatsu outboard makes boating more
enjoyable compared with Randy rowing.
Dad and Courtney
sit in the rear of the Bote. Kendal sits with Carly on the front bench while
Cameron and Lea take the middle bench.
When we go boating
Carly usually just wants off. You can see it in her eyes.
Kendal helps dock
the Bote.
The best part of
this trip for Cameron was taking over the navigation of the Bote.
Courtney took a
turn driving the Bote as well. She did very well as Captain.
Lea makes sure
Randy is not burning Saturday morning breakfast on the outdoor cooktop.
Carly is a camping
doggie. She gets so excited when she sees the camper parked in front of our
house.
We celebrated a
great trip with a campfire and s'mores. We didn't tell the kids, but
Randy and Lea dug into the fudge from Hundley's after the kids went to bed
for the evening. We will be back to Molly Brown many more times.
